Dr. P’s Week 3 Forecast

September 25, 2009 – Dr. Pancake

Ravens –13 over Browns

Mismatch. Joe Thomas might be the only Browns player (offense and defense) better than the Ravens at that particular position. The Browns are in shambles. Joe Flacco looks very good so far this season, but Baltimore won’t need him to cover this spread.
Fantasy Alert: If you have a Ravens running back, start him.

Packers –6.5 over Rams

Bounce back win for the Packers this week against one of the worst teams in football. Green Bay still has some issues they need to work out but it won’t matter against the Rams.
Fantasy Alert: Greg Jennings has a big game following his goose-egg last week.

Giants –7 over Bucs

Bucs will lose their seventh consecutive game dating back to last season. They don’t have enough playmakers on offense to keep up with the Giants run attack and the emergence of Super Mario Manningham.
Fantasy Alert: Brandon Jacobs finally finds the endzone

Bengals +4 over Steelers

I usually like picking good teams coming off losses but I was really impressed with the Bengals D against Green Bay last week. I think the Steelers run game will continue to struggle and the Bengals win outright.
Fantasy Alert: Ocho puts a check mark next to the Steelers DB’s on his list after this game

Pats –4 over Falcons

The Hoodie doesn’t lose two games in a row often, even against a solid Falcons team. Wes Welker practiced on Thursday and I’m counting on him playing in order for New England to cover. Welker does so much for that offense but never seems to get the recognition he deserves, Dr. Pancake is here for you Wes.
Fantasy Alert: Patriots passing game gets back on track Sunday

Chiefs +9.5 over Eagles

Eagles will win this game but I like the Chiefs to cover based on the fact that the Eagles are banged up (Jackson, Westbrook, no McNabb). Kolb racked up a lot of yards last week but that is because he was forced to throw 51 times in a blowout.
Fantasy Alert: Westbrook should have a good game on the ground, after worrying fantasy owners about his availability once again.

Vikings -6 over Niners

Samurai Mike’s undefeated run ends in Week 3. All Day and company roll in their home opener.
Fantasy Alert: Percy Harvin continues his hot start

Texans -3.5 over Jags

Surprised the Jags aren’t getting more points on the road. Houston’s offense is too good.
Fantasy Alert: Slaton finally shows up in this game to relieve his fantasy owners who drafted him in the 1st round.

Titans +2.5 over Jets

Tough game to call, but I like a desperate Titans team to go into New York and Win. Rex Ryan may have to make a phone call to his season ticket holders apologizing for not preparing for Chris Johnson enough.
Fantasy Alert: Not much here, low scoring game

Saints -5.5 over Bills

I think Buffalo keeps this game fairly close, but the Saints passing attack will too much yet again.
Fantasy Alert: Fred “Ice man” Jackson has another big game and Brees will continue his onslaught.

Lions +6 over Redskins

Jason Campbell is not a NFL quarterback, I realized that watching him at Auburn and now Redskins fans are starting to realize it now. The Lions win their first game in a very long time.
Fantasy Alert: Megatron does it again, but no one in Detroit will see it

calvin johnson badass

Bears -2 over Seahawks

Cutler will gain confidence after last week’s win. If they can develop a run game, they should be able to handle Seneca Wallace and the Hawks.
Fantasy Alert: I think Hester gets on track in Week 3

Broncos +1 over Raiders

I like the Broncos chances when Robert Gallery is out and Russell is forced to throw the ball. Somehow the Raiders won a game last week with JaMarcus’ 29% completion percentage, that won’t happen this week.
Fantasy Alert: Ugly game, stay away

Chargers -6 over Dolphin

Tony Sparano was surprised that his team lost to Indy last Monday despite having the ball for 45 minutes. He fails to recognize that the Colts didn’t have the ball for long because they scored too easily, including the first play of the game. I think Rivers puts up big numbers just like Peyton did, in limited possessions, against this Miami defense.
Fantasy Alert: Vincent Jackson shows us again why he should have been drafted a top 10 receiver

Colts +2 over Cardinals

I like Indy in a shootout here. Look for Donald Brown to takeover as the Colts number one running back
Fantasy Alert: Marcus Fitzgerald’s brother will get his targets from the “Old ass man”

Panthers +9 over Cowboys

I think Romo has a bounce back game on MNF. Cowboys win, but the Panthers keep it close and cover.
Fantasy Alert: Felix Jones comes up big (if Wade is smart, he sits MBIII to heal the injured quad)
