The Next Troy Polamalu?

February 4, 2010 – Dr. Crackback

jeremy ioaneIf you follow high school football recruiting closely, or you live in Hawaii, you may have already heard of Jeremy Ioane, or maybe not. (That’s Ioane by the way, not Loane) The defensive back, a product of Hawaii’s Punahou High School, has flown a bit under the radar this recruiting season. Whether it’s his size at 5’11, 185, or his lack of national exposure, or that he doesn’t wear shoes when he lifts, the scouting services only rank him a mere 3 (out of 5) stars.

I’d disagree, but then I only have this highlight video to go on. The explosive safety faxed in his LOI to Boise State on signing day choosing the blue turf over the golden dome. Certainly a huge win for the Broncos in locking up the future star.

Most every high school player shines in their highlight reel, but rarely does a player look as gifted and dominant as Ioane. The kid plays like a heat seeking missile. He’s fast, he’s strong, he’s instinctive, and he hits like a freight train. And when he’s done making a play, there’s never a self serving fist pump or “did you see what i just did” cheer. He respectfully stands up and gets back to the huddle; a coaches dream.

Keep your eye on Jeremy Ioane over the next few years and enjoy the best high school highlight video since Noel Devine, especially the hit at 2:10.
