Top Five Best Baseball Brawls – COED Magazine
Baseball fights are like a good, old bar fight. Swinging punches, spilled beer (from the angry fans), and the occasional baseball bat. In fact the only thing that gets us more heated than fights are the WAGs. With MLB about to get underway, here are some of the best bench-clearing brawls baseball has ever provided.

Tebow, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, could earn as much as $33 million over the course of the contract.

Yao Ming? It seems like forever since we’ve seem him healthy and contributing on the court for the Houston Rockets, rather than posing as an oversized cheerleader on the sidelines. 5 Jerseys To Wear at Sporting Events That Will Get Your Ass Kicked – Unathletic
I think one of my favorite things in all of sport is seeing fans get into it. It’s especially funny when you’re in a season where “rival” meet and one team is clearly 100 times better than the other yet the die hard fans start bringing up history and the yelling ensues. It’s all part of the game and it’s fun stuff.

Haynesworth Finally Shows Up, Clausen and Tebow Sign
Spoiled DT Albert Haynesworth have finally showed up at the Redskins camp after holding out for months. Very few people feel sorry for the overpaid player who has had disagreements with the Redskins including the disapproval of the team switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme, which he does not like.
Haynesworth showed up and was quickly brought down to earth by coach Mike Shanahan who instructed that Haynesworth must first pass the conditioning test. Big Al was also told he would not start out practicing with the starting lineup and would have to earn his way back.
That may end up being awhile.
Haynesworth failed the conditioning test and was held out of practice. Coach Shanahan stated he would continue the conditioning tests daily until he passes. Until then, Al will not be able to practice with the team.
Haynesworth was the only player required to take the test. Everyone else on the team attended a certain percentage of off-season workouts required by Shanahan. The test involves two series of demanding back-and-forth sprints that must be completed in a certain time.
Shanahan maintained that Haynesworth was not set up to fail. He said all the other linemen essentially passed the test by taking part in the off-season workouts.
Elsewhere, Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow did not practice as he has yet to sign a deal with the team. That changed Thursday night as the ex-Gator inked a deal worth $11.25 million over five years, with $8.7 million of that guaranteed.
Jimmy Clausen signed with the Panthers to officially begin his career in the NFL with a four-year contract that includes $2.53 million in guarantees. Clausen starts out with the team as the 3rd-string QB.
President Obama joins Madden 11
The Madden Football video games have always had a lackluster Super Bowl celebration. Now the programmers have designed a new Super Bowl celebration featuring a ticker-tape parade and a visit to the White House to meet President Obama and hand him a custom jersey.
Mixing video games with politics is an iffy move as some gamers don’t like to mix the two. Some loud fans have already spoken about their displeasure of having a President they don’t like in their favorite game. It’s not too big of a deal as I believe die-hard Madden fans will no doubt purchase the game regardless.
Terrell Owens agrees to one-year contract with Bengals

Controversial and flamboyant wide receiver Terrell Owens has found a home for 2010. NFL.com reports the 36-year-old took a huge paycut to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals. Last year Owens played for the Buffalo Bills but he was not resigned. That left Owens looking for a new team but it seemed like very few teams were interested.
Free-agent wide receiver Terrell Owens agreed to a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, a team source told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi on Tuesday.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Owens will be paid $2 million in base salary and could earn an additional $2 million in incentives. He received $6.5 million from the Buffalo Bills last season.
The news thrilled new teammate Chad Ochocinco, who tweeted: “Terrell Owens is officially a Cincinnati Bengals, Cincy let’s welcome him with open arms, it’s on now!”

10 Biggest Potheads in Baseball – COED Magazine
Back in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s the field might as well have been lined with cocaine rather than chalk with the number of players that were in to the nose candy back then. During the 90s and the 2000s its been steroids. Yet, there is another drug that has been a player favorite for years. I’m talking about marijuana folks.
The New Rules of Barroom Pool – The Smoking Jacket

5 Things Brett Favre Will Be Remembered For
Let the Favre watch begin…again. Yet another summer with daily reports on Brett and his decision. It seems like football fans have been going through the endless Favre cycle for a decade. Every season we wonder if it’s his last, and it’s largely in part to both ESPN and Favre himself dragging things out. I think it’s safe to safe on some level Favre isn’t sure. On another level it may be safe to say Favre certainly doesn’t mind the attention.
But does all the ire and media over exposure put a black eye on Favre legacy when all is said and done? Will he be remembered simply as one of the greats or one of the great headaches of all time? Will he be remembered as the fun loving gun slinger he was early on or the indecisive drama queen he’s garnered a reputation as later in his career? Let’s take a look at Favre’s legacy and the five things he will be remembered for.
5. Overexposure – This has to be a part of his legacy no matter what period of time you’re talking about. Favre has spent the better part of his career being the face and poster child for the NFL.
When he was young and getting things done in Green Bay the NFL seemed to embrace the child like attitude he took to the field where he seemed just so happy to be playing football for a living.
In the latter half of his career though he will be known for the agonizing “Favre Watch.” And it’s his fault. His inability to be honest with himself and his team will forever be a bit of a black mark on an otherwise great career.People don’t have any problem with an aging quarterback that refuses to go away, as long as that’s what he says he is.
4. Selfish – Its feels like this is picking on Favre but sometimes he gets a free pass for putting himself first. Here’s the thing to remember: If this were Terrell Owens holding his teams hostage every year the sports fan base would be beside themselves with anger but for some reason with Favre he doesn’t draw quite the ire from us. Why is that?
At the end of the day Favre is not just putting himself before the team because on some level he has to. But Favre is only thinking of himself. The situation with Green Bay really highlighted this point:
Favre had been hymning and hawing for several years on whether to retire. He had Aaron Rodgers waiting in the wings. The Packers knew his decision to play or not would affect how they approached the offseason and the draft and all they asked was for a reasonable timetable to make a decision but yet Favre couldn’t be bothered to do that for years. Then he announces a quick retirement only to be followed by a comeback where he insinuates that his former team rushed him or made him feel pressured to make his decision.
Secondly, he gets to New York to play for the Jets. He has a dismal second half as he is playing through a serious injury and as the season ends he quietly strong arms the Jets into letting him out of his contract. If you are wondering if Favre really did that…yes he did. Had he stayed under contract to them they could’ve traded him if he wanted to get out of New York but by releasing him he could go anywhere he wanted…enter the Minnesota Vikings.
Then, when everyone knew he was going to play for the Vikings, Favre waits until most of training camp is over and then signs avoiding training camp altogether. And, if there is any indication, he will do the same thing this year.
There have been players far more selfish but I think the last few years have dispelled the myth that Favre is a team first who just loves playing football. He’s a guy who cares about Brett Favre. That’s it.
3. Statistics – Favre is one of the great compilers of statistics. Regardless of if he plays this year or not, Favre is one of the greatest statistic holders of all time. He owns so many records due to seasons where he played at an MVP level and simply due to longevity.
The list goes on and on. If for nothing else his legacy will live on because as time goes on his name will be mentioned every time a quarterback breaks a record because you can rest assured that it will be Farve’s record they will be breaking…good or bad.
2. Overrated – I know that this seems contrary for a sure fire Hall of Famer to be considered overrated but Favre has been as much bad as he has been good. For every epic win there has been an epic failure. For every comeback win there is a six interception loss against the Rams.
While there is virtually no one that will ever question Favre’s ability to win football games, there will always be those that question Favre’s ability to win when it mattered most.
If we are being honest about Favre’s legacy he could have very easily been reversed had he not won against an over matched Patriots team.
Had he lost he might have been a sadder version of Dan Marino. Always good enough to be great, never being great enough to win.
1. Durability – There is no way that anything beats this for his legacy. You can talk about all the losses, the interceptions, the MVP’s and the diva mentality but in the end football is tough sport and there has been no one tougher than Favre.
This is why it’s so hard to hate him no matter how he behaves. No matter what has ailed Favre throughout the years, he has also walked out on Sunday’s to suit up and play. His consecutive game streak may never be broken and that’s saying something.
A young man’s take on the Vol football program
Being a Vols football fan is quite an unique experience.
Most programs will offer you a chance to get an autograph or your picture taken with your favorite player. UT takes it up a notch by offering you the chance to be robbed at gunpoint or beaten by your favorite Vol player who may be a drunk DARE representative , a shoplifter or a rapist.
The choices are endless. That’s why they made the Fulmer Cup in honor of all the criminal activity.
A lot of programs out there have their bad apples and that’s to be expected. But when you run a program that’s in the news yearly for the bad reasons like the Vols you start to lose respect and fans.
Take this candid look from a young boy in Knoxville who explains it best. The sad thing is this video was taken a few weeks before the latest incident of several Vols football players beating a cop near a campus bar.
And that is what young kids think of the Vols now…
Cowboys Among The World’s Most Valuable Sports Franchises
Forbes released their Top 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams and NFL teams have dominated the lineup.
Soccer team Manchester United ranked as the most valuable team with a value of $1.83 billion and revenue around $459 million but it was the Dallas Cowboys coming up fast at #2 to be the most valuable NFL franchise.
Manchester United happens to be owned by the Glazer family who controll the Tampa Bay Bucs, ranked #12 on the list.
A few big non-NFL teams like the New York Yankees (#3) and soccer team Real Madrid (#6) pop up in the rankings but for the most part we’re looking at a domination of NFL teams here to showcase why the NFL is one of the most profitable businesses in the world.
Here’s a breakdown on how the NFL teams fared in the top 30 teams on the list. One of the biggest surprises is the Houston Texans coming in at #10, ahead of older franchises like Philadelphia (#11) and Chicago (#13), thanks in large part to a rather nice stadium naming rights deal.
After that it becomes a bottleneck as the value of many teams hovers around the $1 billion to $900 million range. The Oakland Raiders are the lowest on the Top 50 as they rank #44 with a value of $795 million. (full slideshow here)

Ed Reed Doesn’t Wear A Jock
One of the best secondary players ever, Ed Reed, has come out publicly to state that the Ravens are not being generous in their contract negotiations with the player. And that he doesn’t wear a jock strap.
Reed is halfway through his six-year $40 million deal that included $15 million in guaranteed money with remaining base salaries of $6 million this year, $6.5 million in 2011 and $7.2 million in 2012. He is upset with communication with the Ravens front office about getting a new contract even with 3 years left.
Ed Reed apparently tried to renegotiate last year and is dealing with a nasty hip injury this year which has made the 6-time Pro Bowler contemplate retiring or taking a pay cut to play with another team. The Ravens have stated they are comfortable with the contract which prompted Reed’s statements.
Reed said he has spoken with general manager Ozzie Newsome, chief negotiator Pat Moriarty and team owner Steve Bisciotti about his situation over the past year.
“The word I got was, ‘We’re comfortable with where we’re at,’” Reed said. “Yes, you would be comfortable with the plays that I’m making on the field and paying me what you’re paying me. .. There are six, seven players in front of me at my position [in terms of money] that I honestly wouldn’t let hold my jock, and I don’t even wear one.’”
One of the most dangerous safeties in the game in terms of his ability to anticipate where the football is going and pick off passes, Reed said he’s one of the top players in the league.
Reed was adamant that he isn’t sure when he’ll return this season.
Reed emphasized that his hip injury is serious enough to sideline him for the entire year if he’s not aggressive about getting back on the field as soon as possible.
“Honestly, I shouldn’t even be playing this year,” Reed said. [via]
Ed Reed will be 32 when the season starts and won’t even be able to play the first 6 games (or more) due to a hip injury. He is starting to get at that age when the game is starting to take a toll on his body and from a business point of view it’s hard not to see the Ravens point of view.
Hopefully, Reed will bounce back from the bum hip and retain his crown as the best safety in the league. And I’m fine with not knowing his underwear situation from here on out. Some things are best kept in the locker room.
