CFL Games Coming to the NFL Network
The NFL Network has added more live games to its lineup with the announcement that the Canadian Football League (CFL) games would begin broadcasting on the young NFL Network.
The CFL games will join the Arena Football League as summer filler during the NFL offseason and help provide football junkies, like myself, with something to keep me busy.
The CFL and NFL have sign a telecast deal that will broadcast 14 regular-season games on the NFL network this season, starting with the season-opening Alouttes/Roughriders Grey Cup rematch on July 1.
Following the debut game Canada Day, the NFL Network will show three high-def games, produced by TSN, on Saturday nights in July, the CFL said in a release.
And the best part about the new deal is that we will get plenty of Watermelon Helmets!

This just shows you how football is the dominate sport in the United States. I bet they even pull some respectful viewing numbers. Its a great move as many former NFL players end up in the CFL.

The AFL generally means Australian Football League.
It is the biggest spectator sport in Australia by a long way.

The CFL rules are undeniably better for the spectators. There is more passing, more “hail-mary’s” , and generally more exciting football than in the NFL. This is not just an opinion – it’s a fact! The NFL of course has the most talented players, but open-minded, true football fans are in for a treat. Of course, most won’t give it a real chance because of a combination of xenophobia and slick NFL marketing.

The CFL does have some exciting football, but it does have it’s drawbacks. Only 3 downs makes it tough to get a first which results in a lot of punts. Less fans means less money which means poorer talent than the NFL. And my biggest complaint is that there are too few teams. There isn’t enough fans or money to support more teams, but with so few teams it makes the regular season feel pointless. I think like 6 of 9 teams make the playoffs or something…basically everyone makes it. Lame.
