Finally! Jags Fire Del Rio

November 29, 2011 – Dr. Pancake

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio has won the race to being the first coach fired this NFL season. Also in contention are Norv Turner, Jim Caldwell and Tony Sparano.

If you remember our earlier article titled Who Will Be The First NFL Coach Fired This Year? we game Del Rio the best odds and #1 spot for being booted.

I would bet Turner would get the kick next. The Chargers have lost 6 in a row now.  Caldwell might be safe thanks to the Manning situation but the Colts did make some change by firing defensive coach Larry Coyer.  Changes are coming.

Sparano has actually turned around his poor team. After losing their first 8 games, the Dolphins won three in a row. It would have been 4 but they came up one point short last week.

It seems like for the last 3 years Del Rio would be fired. The time finally came this week as the Jags are being sold to Shahid Khan. Part of the news was that Del Rio would get the boot as well.  He has only two playoff seasons in nine years and is 21-33 since 2008.

Del Rio’s coaching methods are outdated and the franchise is struggling to stay in town as the small market of Jacksonville coupled with the worst economy in decades.  Add in a 3-8 start this year and it was an easy decision.

Jacksonville Jaguars Sold. One Step Closer to Los Angeles

November 29, 2011 – Dr. Pancake

The time is nearing for L.A. to get its first NFL franchise since they lost the Rams and Raiders in the 90s.

Long considered the most eligible team to relocate to L.A., where a huge new stadium and large fanbase await, the Jags continue to turmoil in one of the smallest TV markets in Jacksonville and in an old stadium that they have trouble selling tickets to fans.

So the good news is for SoCal fans is that the Jags have been sold. Their former owner Wayne Weaver has worked hard to keep his team in Jacksonville instead of taking the big payday and heading to California.

[via WSJ] Owner Wayne Weaver agreed to sell the Jaguars to Pakistan native Shahid Khan, owner of auto parts maker Flex-N-Gate Group. The Jaguars, now in their 17th season, play in the National Football League’s fourth smallest market but don’t have the heritage of the smaller-market Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but a person familiar with the deal put the sale price at about $750 million.

So even though Khan states he’s in it to keep the team in Florida, a state with 3 NFL teams, the fact is you don’t plunk down $750 million on a franchise that loses money when a big market awaits. Let the countdown being.

The bad news is the team is rather locked down in the poor Jacksonville market for another 15+ years.  There’s a horrible lease to keep the team in town until 2027 and it could be a penalty of upwards of $1 billion to break.

So it will be interesting to see what happens next.  In this economy I find it hard to believe someone would invest in a poor team in a small, crowded market.   At least Wayne Weaver saved new owner Shahid Khan the trouble by firing coach Jack Del Rio.

Ndamukong Suh Rips Off Foes Arms, Legs in Best Taiwanese Animation Video Yet

Ndamukong Suh

November 28, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

Ndamukong Suh‘s ejection on Thursday for stomping on Packers’ lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith was classic Suh. The guy’s been a penalty magnet his whole career and he has more personal fouls than most anyone who is suited up in the league.

And it’s only his second year.

Suh made headlines again last Thursday, on Thanksgiving of all days, by getting dirty again and stomping on a player on the ground. It could have been worse. And according to the Taiwanese Animation news videos, Suh could have taken his aggression to the next level with awesome powers and ripping off limbs.

The best Taiwanese animation video produced by Next Media Animation (NMA) in their short history shows Suh acting like a lion, because he is one, and even ripping apart a player and eating the body parts. Sweet.

And it’s being reported this week that Ndamukong Suh has been suspended by Commissioner 2 games without pay.

Tim Tebow – All I Do Is Win Music Video

Tim Tebow

November 29, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

You probably either love him or hate him. But so far the fact is Tim Tebow isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

That’s because despite the fact he throws an uglier ball than me, he wins. With his 5-1 record as a starter this year the Broncos have gone from cellar dwellers to playoff hopefuls since Tebow took over.

Tim Tebow got some time off recently and decided to celebrate how all he does is win.

Caleb Hanie Loses Bears-Raiders game

November 28, 2011 – Dr. Wedge Buster

Sorry Bears fans. Your hopes were up but the QB curse has struck again.

Chicago just can’t seem to shake the bad luck at the QB position. Jay Cutler was supposed to be the savior. He’s been up and down and injured so the jury is still out. And with Cutler’s latest injury, a broken thumb that might have him out the rest of the year, the Bears turned to Caleb Hanie for their immediate future.

Hanie had an up/down day as he completed 18-of-36 passes for 254 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. The 3 INT’s hurt but that’s expected from a dude who doesn’t ever play.

However, the play of the day (at least for Raiders fans) is on the final drive when Caleb gets confused at the line of scrimmage. He’s up at the ball as the seconds are counting down and the Bears are trying to get one last second score to win the game.

Caleb has visions of hot escorts and Patron parties dancing in his head because he must have thought he won the game before it finished. The ball snapped and Caleb goes to spike the ball. Then he hesitates as he starts to daydream about all the fame he will have for winning the game.

Ooops. Forgot about the ball. Caleb remembers and spikes the ball. Ooops again. That delay is now intentional ground and game over. Ouch!

Jerome Simpson of the Cincinnati Bengals Flops like a Soccer Player

November 28, 2011 – Dr. Pancake

Since they call our football ‘football’ in Europe I think Jerome Simpson of the Cincinnati Bengals can easily fit in. That’s because I’ve watched soccer before. You can call it ‘football’ but our American football is the real deal.

And soccer players are little girls when it comes to flopping and diving like fish on the field. Jerome Simpson shows us why our football is better because if more players did what Simpson does in the video below than I’d stop watching the game.

Just like I did soccer.

Simpson is on the left side of this scrum. Check out his Vlade Divac impression here as Brown player pushes Simpson and Jerome goes flying off the screen like someone tied a rope around his waist and yanked real hard.

If you keep watching it the video gets funnier as you can see the details in how Simpson jumps back and flops on the ground. It’s almost like he’s been practicing this…

That Is How You Score A TD In The NFL!

November 28, 2011 Dr. Hut Hut Hike

It only takes one good game, sometimes one good run, in the NFL to get Fantasy Mangers all giddy. Roy Helu of the Washington Redskins did just that to make the cut.

Helu made a sick TD run vs the Seahawks in Seattle, no easy place to win, as the ‘Skins stormed back to win the game.

Down 17-7, one of the comeback TDs was Helu running through a few players and over one in particular.

Check out the hurdle by Helu after the line of scrimmage as he leaps over a diving defender by the name of Roy Lewis and then jets another 25 to the endzone.

Nice run but don’t get your hopes up next week if you want him on your Fantasy Team.  Shanahan will probably bench him for someone else.

Dwayne Bowe Completely Gives Up On Final Play

bowe-pussy

November 28, 2011 – Dr. Wedge Buster

Big game vs the Steelers and the injured Chiefs are in the game to the final minute. Then comes the first down pass to Dwayne Bowe who flat out pussies out on the play.

Several Steelers are in the vicinity and Bowe must not want to win the game because he doesn’t lift a finger…literally!

Check the play out. Bowe jumps and spins in the air when he sees the defenders and doesn’t even try to get a hand up.

Damn man, at least try. You may not have made it but don’t go down looking like that.

How To Distract Dan Marino

November 28, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

I think the set of boobs is Lily Aldridge. I’m not sure and I’m sure Dan Marino doesn’t know her name either. It’s not important.  We’re more focused on something else right now.

In the pre-game show on CBS Dan Marino had a hard time making eye contact with his guest host Lily.  He smiled a lot during the show and it’s probably best he was sitting down behind a desk for this segment.
