NBC, NFL Will Enter 21st Century – Will Stream Super Bowl Online For First Time

December 21, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

sexy women superbowlNBC Sports, the only network that legitimately streams NFL games online with their Sunday Night Football games, will also extend that offering to the post season and allow the Super Bowl to be streamed online for the first time ever.

The stream will be only for U.S. residents but if you are savvy with a computer (or Google) you can learn how to pony up and get a proxy thing going by the time the big game kicks off.

Prior to the announcement, people had to find illegal feeds online or download recordings put up be people if you had the unfortunate luck of not being in front of the year’s most view program.

On top of the game being streamed online at NBCSports.com and NFL.com, you can pony up a $10 a month fee to Verizon to check it out on a smartphone.

The Verizon deal has been around for awhile and included select games for those that put up the monthly fee. I don’t personally have Verizon so I don’t know the content or quality of the feeds but I’m sure it was a limited selection.

With those that have a rival carrier, you probably won’t be able to stream the feed on your phone as the NFL will most likely block AT&T, T-Mobile and others.

You might look into something like a Slingbox for a situation like that.

[via CNN] For the first time ever the Super Bowl, along with some postseason NFL games, will be streamed online and through the league’s mobile apps, the NFL and partner Verizon Wireless announced Tuesday.

The upcoming wild card games, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl — TV’s most-watched annual event — will be streamed for free to computers on NFL.com and NBCSports.com.

NBC’s live stream will run different ads from those on TV, but Super Bowl viewers will be able to pull up the TV commercials on demand through the website shortly after they air, an NBC Sports spokesman said.

On phones and tablets, Verizon is the only cellular carrier that offers NFL games through an exclusive deal.

Verizon smartphones with a high-speed 4G LTE data plan can stream the games through the NFL Mobile app for free, a spokeswoman for the carrier said. Mobile devices with 3G service, such as the iPhone, iPad or older smartphones, require a $10-per-month Verizon Video subscription, she said.

Drunken Packers Fan Chokes Daughter After Team Loses First Game of Year

December 20, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

The Green Bay Packers lost their first game of the year last Sunday in a 14-19 defeat in Kansas City. With the loss the dreams of the undefeated Packers season go out the window and someone in particular took the loss very hard.

We’re not talking about the coach or Aaron Rodgers. Nope. Instead a drunken Packers fan has been cited twice by police for choking her 11-year-old daughter after becoming angered by the Green Bay Packers game.

36-year-old Grand Chute woman was charged Monday in Outagamie County Court with felony child abuse and misdemeanor counts of bail jumping and disorderly conduct.

Police were called about 8:15 p.m. Sunday to a Grand Chute hotel where the girl told police her mother grabbed her by the neck during the football game. The woman was drinking alcohol and became upset because the team was losing. The girl said that after the Packers lost, her mother choked her again with enough force that the girl couldn’t breathe, and her mother said, “Do you want to die?” the criminal complaint says. Good Lord! That quote at the end is chilling. I know football is king in Cheese land but that’s insane. Thank goodness she didn’t have a gun handy or this would be a much more depressing headline.

NFL Animated Gif

December 20, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

Ok, I know. It’s now Tuesday and I’m late. That happens as the holidays are getting busy now. So here we go with Monday Morning GIFs,…on a Tuesday.

Sigh…what’s next? No Cheerleader gallery? Hell no!

Broncos Halftime Show

NFL Animated Gif

As you know, Tebow played this weekend against the Pats. If you can get past the announcers talking about Tebow you would see this gem at halftime. The Denver Broncos had a monkey riding a dog! Seriously. This happened and it was, for me anyway, the highlight of the game.

Bradshaw’s Fantastic Catch

NFL Animated Gif

The Giants are now at that time of the year when their mistakes might cost them the playoffs. The ‘Skins thumped them hard on Sunday but now the Eagles and Cowboys are looking to slip ahead of the Giants who were once in the NFC East lead. But don’t tell Bradshaw, who makes this stellar catch.

Tom Brady Gets Crushed By Elvis Dumervil

NFL Animated Gif

Tom Brady has had an excellent game for the New England Patriots against the Denver Broncos, but this particular third quarter play was not his best highlight. Despite the fact that Elvis Dumervil was rushing Brady on his right side, Brady didn’t appear to see him. Then, he got absolutely crushed. [via SB Nation]

Big Guy TD Run

NFL Animated Gif

Red Bryant of the Seahawks takes a stroll into the endzone as the ‘Hawks route the Bears this weekend. I love to see the big guys roll like this!

Sneaky Panthers

NFL Animated Gif

What….? Check out the slight of hand as the Panthers slip past the Texans and Cam Newton slips the ball to the fullback between his legs.

Jackson High Fives the Ref

NFL Animated Gif

Vincent Jackson and the Chargers easily beat the Ravens which gave WR Vincent Jackson the excitement to high five the ref.

Romeo is Excited

NFL Animated Gif

Romeo takes over the Chiefs and gets his first win against the undefeated Packers. You can just tell it was a huge win by Romeo’s excitement level here. Yes, this is actually a GIF and not a still picture. You can even see him blink every now and then.

Aaron Curry Smash

NFL Animated Gif

Aaron Curry gave his team a big lift in the fourth quarter against the Detroit Lions. Curry picked up a Matt Stafford fumble and returned it six yards for a touchdown. And how did he celebrate?

He celebrated like anyone would: punching the padding on the goalpost. [via SB Nation]

Monday Night Football Delayed in San Francisco After Power Outage

December 19, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

So NFL fans on Monday got a bit of a delay in the much anticipated matchup of the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. Turns out that the little power transformer next to the stadium couldn’t handle the excitement and that dude just blew up.

It seems like the power grid is as old and outdated as Candlestick Park.

Here’s an aerial view of the happenings.

ESPN Gives You The “Night Before Christmas” Parody About Tim Tebow You Didn’t Want

December 19, 2011 – Dr. Wedge Buster

tebow christmasTim Tebow may have only been in the league for less then two years but you would might think ESPN had nothing to talk about before his arrival.

ESPN knows a ratings maker when they see it and with the drama of Brett Favre over with they had to fill the void. And fill the void they did. Enter Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.

Tim Tebow is all the channel can talk about and that includes ex-Bronco and current ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth along with his ESPN buddies giving us the Tim Tebow “Night Before Christmas” parody.

We know you didn’t ask for it but it’s here anyway. Think of it like that lame business Christmas party you have to go to and get a lame Secret Santa gift and just go ahead and get it over with.

What Happened in the NFL this weekend [Pie Chart]

December 19, 2011 – Dr. Pancake

Hey, did you hear that the Colts finally won this weekend? We just now got the news and forgot to put it on the chart because it was Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow!

Jim Nance and Phil Simms on CBS were so busy interrupting each other just to mutter Tebow that it is starting to make me miss the days of the Brett Favre soap operas.

Oh well, the Pats came to Denver and beat the Tebows finally to end the Broncos 6 game winning streak. So I guess God really did rest on the 7th day….Zing!

The Rams Harvey Dahl – thats not F***ing HOLDING!

December 19, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

refOh no you didn’t!

The Rams Harvey Dahl did not like the fact that the ref called him on holding to negate a nice run by the Rams. He even voiced his opinion which seemed to be close enough to the refs mic, as it was being announced, for everyone to hear!

I know you didn’t call me for holding. Holding? That’s not FUCKING HOLDING!

So not only did Dahl snag a 10-yard penalty, he tacked on another fun 15-yarder for cussing at the ref. Apparently, the penalty is actually called ‘disrespecting the officials.’

I say it’s worth it. The Rams are sucking this year so what’s a 1st and 25 for that team if you can create and epic soundbite like this!

The Rams lost to the Bengals at home 20-13 despite dusting off their hideous technicolor throwbacks of the bright yellow and blue. Ugghh…

Lance Moore Shakes It In The End Zone With TD Celebration [Video]

saints lance moore

December 18, 2011 – Dr. Pancake

The New Orleans Saints had no problem with the Minnesota Vikings in their rematch of the epic NFC Championship from a few years back. Since those Favre-ish years, the Saints have remained competitive while the Vikings struggle to compete.

Wide receiver Lance Moore of the Saints is one of the reasons the Saints have no trouble keeping their high-octane offense going. His TD catching skills are great but his celebration dances are even better.

Apparently, Moore likes to dish out obscure dances and this beauty is being called the “Down The Way” and it’s one you must watch.

Jesus Visits Tebow, Asks Him To Take It Down A Notch

Tebow and Jesus

December 18, 2011 Dr. Hut Hut Hike

Tired of all the Tebow-mania?

So is Saturday Night Live. SNL took aim at the Tim Tebow phenomenon [check out our Tebow Venn Diagram] and the religious beliefs of the Denver Broncos’ quarterback this week with a skit featuring Jason Sudeikis visiting the Broncos locker room and asking Tebow to take it down a notch.

Just like in real life, kicker Matt Prater could have had a bigger role but it does point out long guessed rumor that Tom Brady, quarterback of the Patriots, might be the “nephew” of God and coahc Bill Belichick is related to the devil.

That sounds about right.
