Mr. Glass Matthew Stafford wins 2011 AP Comeback Player of Year

The Detroit Lions finally became contenders in the 2011 NFL season. The team came together with some solid defense and exceptional play making at the receiving position. But it’s at the QB position that the team improved the most.
The Lions have struggled to keep their franchise QB Matthew Stafford healthy and for the first few years of his career, Stafford showed moxie but spent more time on the IR than on the field. It looked like his career was in jeopardy as well with numerous shoulder injuries that threatened to turn this former #1 pick into another Lions draft pick bust.
But Stafford rebounded thanks in large part to surgery and physical therapy on the shoulder and it’s a delight to see the former “Mr. Glass” be given the great honor of the AP Comeback Player of the Year.
Check out this video showing the highlights of Stafford’s comeback year and you’ll see why he edged out the competition.
