Fighting in the stands has been quite the popular thing to do this week. We’ve had fans fight at baseball games and even tennis. Yes, tennis. Who knew they were such a rowdy bunch.

The University of Miami is known as a rough group who like to fight. That stereotype can also extend to their fans after an amateur video caught this crazy brawl in the stands during the “U’s” opening game this week.

Here’s part two of the fight as the goons spill down the seats. A bit of humor in the background as the PA system is playing a UM promo talking about how great and diverse of a University they are.

Maybe they can cut this video into their next ad. It’s safe to say it pretty much sums up the image of the “U.”

Don’t tell Tony Dungy but the Tennessee Titans got a little rowdy at practice this week.

Of all the players in the NFL who it would seem couldn’t afford to get into a fight at practice it was LeGarrette Blount. But his coach is not disappointed in his latest transgression.

Blount was left out of the NFL Draft party due to his days at the University of Oregon where he punched Boise State defensive end Byron Hout during a game. Blount was suspended for 10 games despite his potential and skills. Here’s a clip of that fateful night.

The latest incident occurred Wednesday night at the end of an intense practice. Blount was running offensive plays when numerous shoving matches took place between the offense and defense.

After an altercation, Blount punched defensive end Eric Bakhtiari in the facemask after Blount’s helmet was pulled off during the play.

The Tennessee Titans gave him a chance, and then Blount Wednesday threw a punch at a teammate in practice after a dispute. Blount had just come back to the team after missing practice due to the death of his grandmother.

Blount apologized, just as he did a year ago as a member of the Oregon Ducks.

But surprisingly coach Jeff Fisher says he is not worried about the incident.

“I am not disappointed whatsoever,” Fisher told the Tennessean. “His past is his past. Is that the first punch you’ve seen at camp this year? No. OK. I am not disappointed whatsoever. I have great confidence in the young man that he has learned from his mistake and is very competitive.” [via]

Fisher should have reasons for concern. Not because he punched a teammate. That happens all the time in the NFL practices. During a game is another thing.

However, the fact that Blount was able to loose his cool so easily should send up a red flag. I wouldn’t be surprised if the defensive coaches prompted Bakhtiari and his squad to go after Blount like they did in an attempt to see if he cracked.

Maybe he just needed to get it out of his system. Maybe it’s a sign that Blount still hasn’t grown up. Either way Blount needs to throttle back his anger before he costs his team seriously during the regular season.

Instead, they have altered their primary logo to reflect a more mountainous conference. Above the “10″ you’ll notice a wave-like curve and a mountain peak.

The more modern look of the logo as compared to the old logo seems like an upgrade but I wonder if they will keep it with the new teams coming in. Granted, it wouldn’t be too hard to change that 10 to a 12 when the new teams arrive but think of the hassle and expense. Everything they print and all the templates would have to be changed again in a short time.

That seems like a lot of trouble to go through for just a year. Why not just wait?

The new Pac-10 logo was not supposed to be released until the end of the month but we all know how easy it is to keep secrets off the Internet these days.

Several photos have popped up showing the new logo being painted on Autzen Stadium for the University of Oregon.

Tim Tebow graces the cover this year. His rookie jersey is one of the top sellers in the NFL right now and his cover artwork for the game is one of my favorites.

The unbelievable graphics (actual screenshot above – crazy! ) and gameplay of NCAA Football 11 is like no other game I know of and they take it up a notch with the additions of new options in the offensive like running the “no-huddle” spread, triple option, wishbone, wild hog, or pistol offenses the same way as your favorite schools.

Dictate the tempo of the game when running the spread as you look to the sideline for the plays, or break the huddle and study the defense at the line of scrimmage when operating a traditional, pro-style offense. The game is in your hands.

NCAA Football 11 available with a Bonus $20 gift card when you buy through Gamecenter. Now that’s a sweet deal!

Also, if you’re a die-hard fan like me, you can also check out an exclusive interview with the game developers on that site.

Fresh off a successful stint on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, NFL star Chad Ochocinco is headed back to the studio to look for a dance partner.

Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch, is a new reality series from VH1 which follows Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco as he steps off the football field and onto the dating field.

The 6-time Pro Bowler is now taking the focus off the field and putting it on his love life. At 32 years old Ocho wants to find the kind of girl he can be proud have on his arm and in his cheering section in the stands.

I’m not sure how Chad finds time to shoot two TV shows and focus on football but hopefully he will be able to dance his way into the endzone plenty of times this year.

Check out the first episode of Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch, as Chad has the difficult job of checking out 85 lovely ladies and making cuts to get the number down to 16.

Recently, Matt De Lima wrote an open letter to the Washington Redskins holdout Albert Haynesworth.

The holdout by one of the highest paid players in the NFL has touched the nerves of many fans including one of our readers, Sergeant First Class Michael Hunter, who sent in this letter to voice his opinion on the Haynesworth situation and helps gives some great perspective on being a team player.

Mr. Haynesworth,

I’ve been sitting back for the last month reading and listening to everything being said about you and while I’m basically a nobody who you probably won’t care a bit for what I say I felt I needed to share my thoughts and feelings on your situation.

As you can probably guess, I’m a big Redskins fan. I’m from Waldorf, Maryland and grew up with my family watching the Skins games whenever they were on. They would have parties and cook outs and cheer our favorite team on each and every time they played. We stood behind the team through thick and thin no matter what.

Now, believe it or not, you and I are somewhat alike. You signed a contract for a lot of money. When you signed this contract you were probably told certain things, as you’ve said, but even if those things didn’t come to fruition you were still being paid to do your job and do what you’re coaches thought was best for the team. You are being paid a lot of money to do these things. You’re probably wondering why I’m telling you all these things you already know and wondering how you and I could be alike. Well, let me explain.

As I said, you signed a contract but so did I. One of the differences is the contract I signed was for a lot less money and it was for the United States Army. They told me a bunch of things too. Some were true and some weren’t. Here’s another difference between the two of us. If I don’t like what my “coaches” tell me to do I don’t stay home and play a woe is me roll. I suck it up like and adult and understand that what I’m being told to do may not be to my liking but it is most likely for the good of the team and my fellow Soldiers. Another difference is you are being paid a lot more money for seven years then I’ll ever see in my lifetime but I’m not complaining because what I do allows you to live the life you live and earn the money you do. It allows you to play a sport you profess to love and see your family and provide them with a good life. The thing that I am complaining about is how you say you are all about the team but you aren’t. Go spend some time with some servicemen from any service to see what TEAM really means.

I tell my Soldiers I don’t care what you say I care what you do. The same applies to you and what you are doing speaks volumes. It doesn’t matter that you are unhappy with the new scheme. You aren’t the coach. You don’t decide what scheme the team plays. You are being paid, a lot, to honor your contract to the best of your ability and do your job until that contract is over. If you want to be a coach, quit being a player and do that. Until then understand, you don’t know everything and only make yourself look bad by acting like you do.

All this is said because I love my team and while I was deployed to Iraq last year I had to read the games on the NFL website just so that I knew how my team was doing. It was very disappointing to say the least. Even more so when our highest paid player doesn’t seem to care and takes himself out of games when he gets tired. I wish I had the same option but as I said, I signed a contract and I have honored it to the best of my ability for 17+ years. I wish you would honor yours for the remainder of it.

I look forward to the 2010 season and hope that you plan to put your team first instead of yourself like you have been doing. Thank you for taking the time to listen to what I have to say and good luck.

SFC Michael J Hunter

Thanks for the letter, SFC Hunter. Stay safe and thanks for all that you do for us.

Over the years the various logos of NFL teams has gone through some upgrades and changes. Some teams have been fortunate enough to have an established design that, with a little nip and tuck, has survived in modern times.

Other teams, through reorganization or moving, have had various colors or logos. Even the NFL shield we know today was recently tweaked to reflect a more modern look.

Here’s a look at the AFC teams over the years and how their look has changed from their early years of establishment to today. Click on the image below to see a larger picture.

The pride of Mt. Tuskegee State, Willis Jackson, talks about why you should fear the draft and his plans for draft day 2010. Since 1936, the post-college careers of 13,000 young men have been altered by the draft of the NFL.

They are called up into the league and immediately sent to training camps to begin their work. These young men also end up in some of the most dangerous in the country, like Detroit or Cleveland. It’s tragic.
