Eek!! The Terrified Michigan Punter

michigan punter

November 26, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

If you’re gonna make the highlights, might as well make it memorable. For a punter, making the highlights is rare. Unless you boot a 75-yard punt or shank it, you’re probably not going to see much airtime on SportsCenter.

Then there’s Michigan punter Will Hagerup who flubs the snap and loses the ball. That’s not the highlight. The expression on his face, one of instant sheer terror realizing everything in his world just imploded, is epic.

Boise State Gets Wild Hail Mary TD

November 26, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

boise-stateWell, I see that Boise State is sticking with that horrible blue field. Ugghhh….

Boise State Broncos and Wyoming Cowboys played this weekend and the highlight of the game was the fantastic Hail Mary TD catch by Boise State. The bad news is the game was onesided and BSU won 36-14.

The Hail Mary in question actually happened at the end of the first half, not the second, as the Broncos tried to get one more in before the break.

With just a few seconds left in the half, Kellen Moore lobbed a pass 46 yards into the endzone, where it was tipped a couple times.

Thankfully, WR Matt Miller just happened to be taking a nap on the goal line. He was beat from all the Black Friday sales and was enjoying a nice nap. He woke up in time to see a ball fall into his lap.

Check out the highlights below. The Hail Mary in question happens around the 1:30 mark.

Baylor and the Luckiest Pass Of All Time?

baylor beats oklahoma

November 20, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

There was no shortage of great NCAA games this weekend which was full of upsets that saw the likes of #2 Oklahoma State and #4 Oregon going down. Another great upset saw #5 Oklahoma losing to rival #25 Baylor.

Oklahoma fought hard but it just wasn’t their night. In fact, after this play you’d think they would know they didn’t have a chance. Lucky catches like this are career highlights and don’t happen that often.

Baylor QB Robert Griffin III’s pass is deflected into the air…but thankfully it’s caught by Kendall Wright who takes it the rest of the 87 yards for a touchdown, tying the game.

That tied the game in the 3rd quarter but it wasn’t until the final seconds of the game that Baylor was able to get that go ahead score. 8 seconds left in fact.

Lee Corso says “Ah, F–k it” on ESPN

Someone call the morality police because we have a live one on the loose here. Lee Corso is in hot water now and will probably be fined $1 billion and have to be caned in public for letting loose a swear word on live TV.

Think of all those young and impressionable kids in the background. Thank goodness they’re all drunk or this could be horrible.

Lee Corso says “ah, fuck it” on ESPN’s College GameDay before a Nov. 19 game between Houston and Southern Methodist University. Kirk Herbstreit and Carl Lewis are shocked.

Go Cougars! BYU Fan Tears Up Stands With Awesome Dance

November 16, 2011 – Dr. Wedge Buster

go-courgarsThe 7-3 BYU Cougars are having a solid year and I know the secret. It’s not the high-flying offense that is getting the wins. It’s the fans!  They’re the driving force.

Since Mormons do not drink alcohol or caffeine I’m at a loss at what this dude is all geeked out on.  Maybe it’s just life. I would have guessed about a half-dozen Red Bulls and some Vodka.

Or maybe he’s just one of those happy guys who dances like this everywhere he goes.  And was that a chicken dance?

Check out this video of a Cougar fan tearing up the stands before kickoff and see for yourself if that’s true. It’s the feel-good video of the year!  It also begs the question, how long is that song?

Houston QB Case Keenum is now your all-time passing yards leader

case keenum

November 5, 2011 Dr. Hut Hut Hike

Houston quarterback Case Keenum is now the all-time passing yards leader in FBS. He surpasses Hawaii’s Timmy Chang and is making a name for himself as all the media is blinded by that dude name Andrew Luck out at Stanford.

Keenum is a passing machine. Keenum, the Houston senior, made a 16-yard pass to Justin Johnson in the third quarter on Saturday night against UAB. That pass let Keenum pass Timmy Chang in the record books with the old record of 17,072 yards Chang had for Hawaii from 2000-04.

It began easy enough as Keenum only needed 267 yards to match Chang’s mark. Easy. He didn’t need much time for that, right? Keenum already holds the NCAA career records for TD passes and total offense for No. 14 Houston but the real question is can he translate that into a Heisman Trophy?

Keenum stunned people last week when he threw nine TD passes against Rice and started off hot Saturday night as he completed his first 11 passes against UAB.

Video: BYU QB Riley Nelson High-fives a ref

October 30, 2011 – Dr. Crackback

The best clip of the weekend, and one of my favorites for the year, occurred on Friday night’s game between BYU and TCU. After seeing Arkansas’ Marquel Wade’s Disgusting Hit, it’s nice to see something a bit more upbeat.

I’ve watching this video several times and it never gets old. In fact, I just love it more as Cougar quarterback Riley Nelson, just a bit excited after making a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, high-fived the linesman signaling the touchdown!

In the NFL, Commissioner Roger Goodell might slap down a fine but I don’t think the NCAA will come down too hard on Nelson.

Nelson ended up passing for 215 yards and rushing for 84 more but TCU ended up winning the game 38-28.

Andrew Luck Blows Away Trojans

Stanford’s Andrew Luck is the best quarterback in the NCAA and is poised to be the hottest ticket in next year’s NFL Draft. Fans are already pointing out NFL teams like the Colts and Dolphins tanking their seasons (not unbelievable) in order to get that #1 pick to nab Luck.

After Stanford survived a 3 OT win against Lane “Baby Face” Kiffin, Luck and the #4 Stanford Cardinal move to 7-0 on the season and are poised to play for the National Championship.

Caught on the sidelines during the game we see this beauty as Luck knocks out a snot rocket in such a classy manner.

Erin Andrews Sucks It For Luck

October 30, 2011 – Capt. Gridiron

ESPN’s Erin Andrews and the crew visited Los Angeles and were fortunate enough to be part of the lewdest College GameDay ever.

A few NSFW posters got held up during the pregame of the Stanford/USC game. The first one describes in short detail what the initials for ESPN stand for. Hmmmmm…. who knew?

Take a closer look at the racy sign over Kirk Herbsteit’s shoulder right before the show closed. Click for a bigger picture.  [via SB Nation]

And then another gem was caught as Erin Andrews did her usual thing (don’t care, usually turn the volume down when she talks) and if you look very close above her shoulder on our right you’ll see a dong. Nice.

Someone took the “Suck For Luck” motto, in reference to NFL teams tanking the season to draft the NCAA’s best QB Andrew Luck, in a different way.  Click below for a bigger picture.

Watch Out For That Brick Wall … Nevermind

October 29, 2011 – Dr. Wedge Buster

During the South Carolina Gamecocks victory at Tennessee, CB Victor Hampton finds out that the Vols have strategically placed a brick wall behind the endzone with no padding.

Hampton can’t be blamed, though. He’s still blinded by Derek Dooley’s orange pants.
