Rex Ryan “Let’s Get a Snack” Speech On Hard Knocks
Rex Ryan knows about 2 things in life that you will never match him on: Snacks and Football.
Do not try to compete with him on these. You will lose.
During the last episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks, Coach Ryan is trying to find a leader in his locker room. After a team meeting Rex complains about his Jets being laid back and eating hamburgers before practice. They lack the leadership and discipline to be the best team in the league.
It’s a great inspirational speech followed by this nugget of greatness:
“play like Jets and not some [expletive] team. Do we understand what the [expletive] I want to see tomorrow? Now let’s get a snack.”

Snakes vs. Seahawks Prank Video
The Seattle coaching staff decided to play a little practical joke on the players. The Seahawks were pranked by a fake snake in a Gatorade cooler and their reactions are somewhat tame to how I would react.
Seattle players were typically lured into the office of director of player development Mo Kelly after being asked at some point, “Have you tried the new Gatorade?”
The results are pretty funny, and the Seahawks put together a video of the shenanigans.
“It scared the heck out of me,” QB Matt Hasselbeck said. [via]
The snake prank cooler contraption was given as a gift to the Seahawks equipment staffers from the Green Bay Packers equipment guys. They had used it to trick their players last week. The cooler was then handed off after last weekend’s game at Qwest Field between the two teams.
[caution: some NSFW language in the guys reactions]

Rookie Hazing on HBOs Hard Knocks
If you are a rookie in the NFL and are lucky enough to make the team it means somewhere along the line you got a nice hazing. HBO’s “Hard Knocks” visited the New York Jets this year during their training camp to get an inside look at an NFL player.
We got to see Rex Ryan cuss and piss off Tony Dungy and also Antonio Cromartie trying to name some of his 7 kids by 5 different moms.
The latest video out shows Jets Rookie Brian Jackson getting a rather nasty hazing by the vets. Turns out Jackson is a little mouthy with his trash talk and the veterans decide to put him in his place. Click on the video below to watch the clip.

Alabama’s Coach Cochran Will Get You Fired Up
Scott Cochran is The Alabama football head strength and conditioning coach who does everything he can to get his players ready for the season.
“If it feels good, you ain’t doing it right,” screams the hoarse Cochran at his players in the weight room.
If you have ever seen or heard Cochran in person you will instantly recognize his husky voice which is usually yelling. Georgia fans may remember Cochran from a few years back due to a video during the ‘Bama warm ups before the game in which Cochran noted that the Bulldogs were going to wear their black jerseys in the game because “they’re going to their own funeral.”
For the Tide, Cochran is the motivator and inspiration of the players as seen in this video which aired on ESPN recently.
You can clearly see that Coach Cochran likes to get in their weight room with his players and take a personal interest in making sure they are the best players on the field come gameday. But outside the weight room he doesn’t turn it off one bit.
Check out this video of the ‘Bama players on the practice field getting ready. Who knew you could get so motivated just by stretching?

Stephen Colbert Sacks Favre, Announces Retirement
It’s an offbeat news story but it does go to show you the vast appeal of the Brett Favre drama.
For the last few years football fans have put up with the antics of Brett Favre in the offseason. He retires. He doesn’t. He misses camp and in a heartfelt moment he honors his teammates by showing up before the regular season.
Well, Stephen Colbert doesn’t take kindly to Favre playing with our emotions. He even has the broken broom stick to poke in his eye to prove it.
Why does he do it? Why does Favre pander to the media and demand all this attention?
Ohhhh…..maybe that’s a good idea. Favre is onto something here.
I think Colbert may have found a way to get the attention he so rightfully deserves. Maybe it’s time to retire and think about the future….

Troublemaker LeGarrette Blount throws punch at Titans practice
Don’t tell Tony Dungy but the Tennessee Titans got a little rowdy at practice this week.
Of all the players in the NFL who it would seem couldn’t afford to get into a fight at practice it was LeGarrette Blount. But his coach is not disappointed in his latest transgression.
Blount was left out of the NFL Draft party due to his days at the University of Oregon where he punched Boise State defensive end Byron Hout during a game. Blount was suspended for 10 games despite his potential and skills. Here’s a clip of that fateful night.
The latest incident occurred Wednesday night at the end of an intense practice. Blount was running offensive plays when numerous shoving matches took place between the offense and defense.
After an altercation, Blount punched defensive end Eric Bakhtiari in the facemask after Blount’s helmet was pulled off during the play.
The Tennessee Titans gave him a chance, and then Blount Wednesday threw a punch at a teammate in practice after a dispute. Blount had just come back to the team after missing practice due to the death of his grandmother.
Blount apologized, just as he did a year ago as a member of the Oregon Ducks.
But surprisingly coach Jeff Fisher says he is not worried about the incident.
“I am not disappointed whatsoever,” Fisher told the Tennessean. “His past is his past. Is that the first punch you’ve seen at camp this year? No. OK. I am not disappointed whatsoever. I have great confidence in the young man that he has learned from his mistake and is very competitive.” [via]
Fisher should have reasons for concern. Not because he punched a teammate. That happens all the time in the NFL practices. During a game is another thing.
However, the fact that Blount was able to loose his cool so easily should send up a red flag. I wouldn’t be surprised if the defensive coaches prompted Bakhtiari and his squad to go after Blount like they did in an attempt to see if he cracked.
Maybe he just needed to get it out of his system. Maybe it’s a sign that Blount still hasn’t grown up. Either way Blount needs to throttle back his anger before he costs his team seriously during the regular season.
Tony Dungy Wants To Censor Rex Ryan, NFL and Not Himself
Tony Dungy does not see the NFL as a place for cursing. After witnessing the HBO Series “Hard Knocks,” Dungy was not pleased with all the cussing that flowed from Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan’s mouth. One can safely assume that Dungy has never met Rex Ryan before the show aired.
Dungy, a devout Christian who has been a speaker for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, recently called on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to have a talk with Ryan about his penchant for cursing on the HBO show.
“I don’t know that (Goodell) will or not, but I would hope that he does because I just don’t think the league needs that,” Dungy, who was head coach for the Colts and Bucs, and now an NBC NFL analyst, said on Dan Patrick’s radio show on Monday. “I don’t think our young people need to hear that that’s the way it’s done to be successful. Because it doesn’t have to be that way.”
Greenburg said he has not heard from Goodell or anyone else at the league office, adding that the NFL is well aware of the tone and language that has become a part of the series. “Hard Knocks” is co-produced by HBO and NFL Films, the league’s video arm. [via]
Dungy is sticking up for his beliefs and there’s nothing wrong with that. But he’s way off base here. I believe that the NFL should allow “Hard Knocks” and coach Rex Ryan to do whatever they want.
Dungy believed that Michael Vick should be shown mercy for his animal abuse acts but wants the NFL to censor Rex Ryan. Guess Dungy’s Glass Bubble doesn’t include his own sideline or QB Peyton Manning.
Remember that Dungy said, “I don’t think our young people need to hear that that’s the way it’s done to be successful. Because it doesn’t have to be that way.”
Roll that clip of the Colts sideline cussing from their Super Bowl year and introduced by Dungy himself. It looks like cussing didn’t hurt these guys. In fact, it helped them worked out their problems and win a Super Bowl!
Mmmmm….the hypocrisy is yummy.
To help Dungy in his cause on keeping the NFL clean, here’s a small sampling of recommended changes that I believe Tony would endorse. It would help clean up the image of the league and make the game more enjoyable at the same time.
Insane Gary Busey is Norman Tugwater, Fantasy Football Lawyer
Calling Gary Busey batshit insane seems redundant these days. He’d stand out more if he acted normal and was sitting quietly reading a copy of Popular Mechanics at a Starbucks. Then I’d be worried for him.
That’s not going to happen anytime soon, thankfully. Busey is still Busey
The latest Busey news is that he teams up with the Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson and a hot, sexy, busty secretary to present to you a crazy video featuring Busey being Busey and Peterson taking down dudes with a chokehold.
Oh yeah, Shaq’s in here as well because, well, …why not?
Guess Jamie Farr was busy that day.
Apparently, Tugwater is a Fantasy Lawyer for whatever that means. It’s a great excuse to see Busey going crazy so that’s all I need to know even if it ends up being a crazy commercial for Vitaminwater.
